Mullally began her acting career on the series that debuted in 1986, The Ellen Burstyn Show. Then she guest-starred in sitcoms like Seinfeld's Frasier Winds Ned, Stacey Mad About You Caroline in the City 3rd Rock from the Sun and Just Shoot Me!. She played a main character on a fifth-season episode of Murder She Wrote's Miner Slaughter. The actress recalls how I was not working as long which made me panic as I didn't know how to pay rent.
